Literature is not a mirror of society but of the mind of authors. The Vedas, Upanishads, epics, and gods and goddesses mentioned therein, are tendentiously created literature to arrange food for Brahmins, women and wine for Kshtriyas, and money for Vaishyas. Kshtriyas were against each other, but not against the foreign invaders. Sudras were created for serving their needs. History reveals that the original inhabitants were non-Aryans. India can boast about the period between Buddha and Ambedkar. Freedom from the Britons has been attained, but not from the upper castes. Separatism forms the quintessential attribute of Hinduism. How can the outcastes address themselves as Hindus with pride? Dalit leaders following the upper castes should remember that Ambedkar never asked them to accept the leadership of the oppressors.
